         Come out and be a part of McKennan Parks Centennial celebration!  The festivities start August 8^th and continue through the 10^th of August.  Bring your family and enjoy all the sites and sounds that will be taking place at this historic park.  To celebrate this grand occasion, Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation will make significant updates and improvements.

Friday, August 8^th:   

·  Historic Guided Walking Tour- 3 p.m. starting at the North parking lot shelter.  Follow long time park employee and park historian, Larry Weires, as he talks about the development of the park from its inception to what it looks like today.

·  Historic District Neighborhood walking tour- 7 p.m. starting at the North parking lot shelter (conducted by Siouxland Heritage Museum)

·  Living History Film Premiere-This film is produced by Citilink Cable Channel 16 and will be shown at 8 p.m. in the bandshell.  The film is a compilation of memories of different Sioux Falls citizens.   

Saturday, August 9^th:

·  SDTA/SFTA Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament (August 9 & 10). 

·  Children’s Book Readings in the Sunken Gardens- 9:30 a.m.

·   Phil Baker Performance in the Bandshell - 11 a.m.

· Dog Show at the bandshell - 2:15 p.m. registration - Show Starting at 3 p.m. (Click Here for Registration Form)

· Youth Mixed Martial Arts demonstration held in the Sunken Gardens - 5pm

· Mogen's Heroes - playing a one-hour show in the bandshell beginning at 7 p.m.

Sunday, August 10^th:

·  SDTA/SFTA Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament cont.   

·   Ice Cream Social at the NEW picnic shelter - 1:30 p.m.

·   Dedication of the Centennial Tree by Mayor Dave Munson - 2:30 p.m.

·   Municipal Band concert at the historic bandshell at 3 p.m.
